Our commitment

Homies is built for people navigating an unfamiliar country. Accessibility is core to that mission. We aim to conform to the Israeli accessibility standard (IS 5568, based on WCAG 2.0 Level AA) across the application.

What we've done

• Semantic structure, labeled controls and keyboard-reachable actions.
• High-contrast text on all surfaces and a scalable, responsive layout.
• English is the currently selectable interface language. Hebrew right-to-left support exists in the codebase but is marked coming soon while translation quality is reviewed.
• Where the meetups map is used, a list view of the same events is always available as an accessible alternative.
• Independent automated audits (Lighthouse accessibility score 98/100 as of July 2026).

Known limitations

Homies is an evolving pilot. Some newer screens (chat, the map, and recently added flows) have not yet had a full manual audit with assistive technology, and the embedded Google map is a third-party component whose accessibility we don't fully control, which is why a list alternative is always offered.
